October 2010 (continued)

Doing some modelling!

In October we still had some dry days. Which was a good sign because Mommy asked me to do some model work. She had made a Christmas dress for me and, when I saw what she was doing, I asked her if it would be possible to make a second one.

"A second one?" Mommy asked: "Where do you need a second one for? You are only able to wear one Christmas dress at the time!"

"I want to send another one to Texas Gretchen and Aunt B. and maybe a dress to Texas Linchen as well, if that's not too much work???"

Mommy found that an excellent idea. Here are some photos of me modelling the Christmas dress. The dress can be wear with or without the front. Mommy and I also send a look-a-like of this little Teddy Bear to the US.

Mommy had been very creative, because she made also three Christmas dresses and  pinaforces for the triplets.

Here is Joyce modelling the blue shirt and pinaforce version. This is the version we also send to the US for Texas Linchen to wear.

.

For M.S. and Sanrike Mommy sew the same color pinaforce but a light blue and red shirt.
Of course Joyce also has some beautiful black shoes to wear.

With so many clothes it is very hard to chose what to wear!
As soon as the dresses for Texas Gretchen and Texas Linchen were ready, we send a big package to Aunt B. in the US. In the package we enclosed other goodies as well. And here are the photos Aunt B. send us later to show me and my Mommy how happy Texas Gretchen and Texas Linchen were with our (Christmas 2010) surprises.

How Michaela Sophia met Sam

Two days later, we were all present when Michaela Sophia met Sam for the first time. That was so funny to watch.

Sam came to Mommy's house to have a haircut. (Don't tell Michaela Sophia but in his former life Sam was a girly Annette Himstedt doll by the name of Katiina). The moment M.S. (that's how we call her most of the time) laid eyes on Sam with his new hair, it was boom.... love on first sight. They are inseparable since then. Oh how wonderful that is....

I wish that will happen to me as well in the near future!!!!!!

Painting and coloring

Shortly after my meeting with Knut, Pinokkio and Wesley,  I had another adventure. This time Mommy gave me and Joyce some paper and pencils so that we would be able to paint and make some drawings.

I bet it won't be a surprise that we mostly created some "Giraffes" to color!

September 2010

My first adventure

There was so much to explore here in Holland for me. It was a Sunday and the sun was shining so Mommy said to me that if I wanted, I would be permitted to go outside to explore the back garden.

First I sat down on a chair for awhile enjoying the September sun.

Then I walked over to a bench in the corner of the garden where I saw a little Polar Bear who was also enjoying the sun. His name was Knut. Mommy told me he was a replica (what a difficult word is that) of the Polar Bear who lived in a German Zoo. I could caress him quite easy and I wasn’t even scared!

Can you imagine how I felt when Mommy told me later that the real Knut died unexpectedly on March 19th, 2011 in the Berlin Zoo? I cried for a very long time, couldn’t believe that it was true. He was born on December 5th, 2006 and was raised by zookeepers.

I bet many people all over the world did and still don’t believe he’s really gone. He was so cute and brought so much joy in so many peoples lives.

Luckily Mommy bought three DVD’s with the real Knut so we’ll be able to see his adventures and his, short, life story over and over again even now he’s dead.

RIP dear Knut.

After I met Knut’s replica, Mommy asked me if I would like to meet some other friend. I had no idea who she meant, but she said it was a teacher and of course I said “Yes”. So of we went to another part of the garden. There was a guy sitting, reading a book. But the funniest thing about him was his nose! That one was soooooo long, I had never seen such a long nose before in my life.

He said his name was Pinokkio (I believe you write it as Pinocchio?) and he introduced me to his A,B,C book. Mommy took a photo of it.

I listen very carefully to everything he told me. It was very interesting. But it was his nose which interested me the most, so before I could hold myself back, I slipped down of his couch and started to touch it.

Mommy was furious. “WHAT’S THIS?” she said. I felt guilty. Didn’t want to hurt Pinokkio. Luckily he answered that it doesn’t matter. If he just said that to help me out...I don’t know.

Then Mommy disappeared inside the house. Saying that she was sure that I would behave myself in the meantime. But, I hate to tell you this, I didn’t! Because I saw a doggy in the garden. A lovely white one with some black spots. Think he had been out to long on his own in the rain lately. He had very dirty paws too, but that didn’t matter to me. I run up to him and asked him what his name was. He said “Wesley” and before I knew it he jumped on the table! So I climbed on a chair. The only way to get close to him and started to cuddle him.

He was so sweet and had a very wet tongue. He licked me over my entire face. But then it became worse. Wesley pissed on the table! Just on the moment that Mommy returned. She was so mad at me. She went inside again to get something to wash it away. It took some time because I heard the phone ring. I wanted to get even closer to my new friend so I did something real stupid. I climbed also on the table to sit down next to Wesley. To my horror, Mommy took photos from all I did. It was so embarrassing because, when Aunt B. send me to Holland, she told me to be a good girl, always listen to my new Mommy and the first weekend here I humiliated her already.

We were still hugging and telling each other secrets when Mommy discovered what I was doing. Now she started to be real pissed off.

“WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING LITTLE GIRL? I THOUGHT WE HAD AN AGREEMENT” she yelled at me: “THAT YOU SHOULD BEHAVE YOURSELF! BUT NO, I TURNED AROUND FOR JUST A SECOND AND WHAT ARE YOU DOING....YOU CLIMBED ON THE TABLE! WHAT IF YOU HAD TUMBLED DOWN TO THE GROUND AND HURT YOURSELF?”

At that moment I thought “maybe” she was right. But later.... I was not so sure anymore. Nothing happened to me so why was she so mad at me? All I wanted was to have some fun with Wesley! Why didn’t Mummy understand that? Well immediately she lifted me up from the table and carried me inside. Mumbling that I needed a lot to learn. She was wondering why I had been such a good behaved little girl since my arrival here and today.... She shook her head when she put me back on the chair in the living room. I felt so ashamed. Even couldn’t face the other girls who were so surprised and wanted to know what happened. But I didn’t answered them. Just picked my book of from the floor and started to read again. Pretending that everything was fine.

I had house arrest for the rest of the week. I think I deserved that after all. Wesley was punished to. He had to stay under the bench in the garden for at least a day.

Poor doggy. He didn’t do anything wrong. It was all my fault. I was lucky that Mommy didn't stay mad at me for long.

Introduction

Note: Keep in mind that all these doll stories are just pretend stories and that they have no relationship with the real world!

I'm so excited that I have my own blog now. Let me introduce myself a little bit more: My name is Dutch Gretchen. I hear you thinking; why Dutch Gretchen and not only Gretchen? Well let me explain that first. I am an Annette Himstedt doll created in Germany who lived the first years of my life in Texas USA. I really liked it there, because there were so many other dolls to talk to and to play with. My special friend was Linchen. We had so much fun together. But then one day in August 2010, my "former" Mommy picked me up and said to me that I had to leave. I was crying and asked why. I didn't want to leave, I wanted to stay in Texas. But she said that I had to be brave, because she would send me to Holland! Holland? That sounded so far away... and indeed it was. Holland lays on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean. Before I left, my former Mommy took some photos from me on my own and together with Linchen.

Here are some of them which will always remind me on my time living in the USA.

Shortly after this I had to say goodbye to all my friends in Texas, Mommy locked me up in a big brown box and brought me to the post office. Boy I was so scared. It was so dark inside that box and I had no idea what would happen. That was early August 2010.

The travel seemed to take ages. My former Mommy mailed my new Mommy that I was on my way to her so they both expected that I would arrive any minute at the doorsteps of my new home. But time went by but nothing happened. They got worried, where could I be? And all this time I was locked up, couldn't see a thing, only heard strange and terrified noises coming from outside my box. Then finally after three weeks (!) I showed up. I felt so happy when I finally got released out of the box, but I believe my new Mommy was even more happier when she saw me for the first time. I saw tears in her eyes from joy. I used my new Mommy's PC to let my former Mommy know that I arrived safely. From that moment on my former Mommy would be named as Aunt B. (of course I can mention her full name here, but don't know yet if she gives me permission to do that). Well anyway: on August 31th, 2010 I entered the Dutch dolly household and since then my life has changed forever. But back to my name: Dutch Gretchen. It's not only that I live in Holland and that I'm a Dutch doll now, no it's more that I won't be mixed up with another Gretchen. After Aunt B. read all my adventures and stories, she realised that she missed me a lot. No, I wasn't send back, that would have been too cruel, but she looked and asked around and after awhile she found another Gretchen! Not to replace me, but to have a friend for Linchen who felt very lonely when I left. From that day on we had Texas Gretchen and Dutch Gretchen. Isn't that wonderful?????

Now that I have introduced myself a little bit more, I will start to tell you about my first adventure I had here in Holland in September 2010.
